 250 Speedway

 2009 Safety Guidelines

 

Head Gear- Drivers are required to wear an approved racing helmet with a minimum standard rating of Snell SA2005 or SA2000. A full face helmet is highly recommended but not required. Helmet must accompany car during vehicle inspection. Neck and arm restraints are highly recommended also.

Fire Suit - All drivers must wear a flame retardant fire suit. Full body or two piece suits are allowed. Fireproof gloves and racing boots are highly recommended.

Fire Extinguisher – Fire extinguishers are required. Each car must furnish their own fire extinguisher. Each extinguisher should be kept fully charged at all times. It is highly recommended that drivers carry an on board extinguisher as well. All on board fire extinguishers must be properly mounted.

Seatbelts - Each driver must have a competition quick release harness with shoulder straps, no more than 5 years old. Drivers must wear harness and have harness fastened while on the track. (Five point harness highly recommended) No factory type seat belts may be used. It is recommended that if fraying is evident to the seat belt, it should be replaced immediately.

Window Nets - All Compacts must have functional window nets. Window nets for the Mod-Lite and Sportsman Divisions are highly recommended.

There must be an electrical kill switch in reach of driver, as well as a fuel shut off.

Anything not covered in these rules should be confirmed with a tech official. All concerns should be checked before completing car. The top 3 finishers in a feature need to report to the tech area immediately following the race unless notified differently at the drivers meeting. Any car that does not pass a safety inspection may not race that night.

General rules

  1. TSMA officials will have full authority over race cars at TSMA sanctioned events.
    At the discretion of TSMA officials in charge, any competitor may be disqualified for violation of rules,
    unsafe equipment, or harmful actions.

  2. All TSMA cars are subject to inspection by TSMA officials at any time.

  3. Any type of un-sportsmanlike conduct by a driver, car owner, pit crew member, agent, etc...
    shall be ground for disqualification and/or disciplinary action; including, but not limited to any and/or all combination thereof: probation, suspension, fines, loss of any and/or all points, loss of any and/or all purse/prize money. Failure to provide Social Security number, or a false Social Security is provided will result in a $500.00 fine to participate by TSMA: and possible legal action by the IRS.

  4. Any disqualification will result in a two week penalty.

  5. Drivers or pit crew members are absolutely not allowed to consume alcoholic beverages prior to or during a sanctioned event. The use distribution or sale of illegal drugs at any time can be cause for instant indefinite suspension.

  • Drivers under the age of 18 years of age must have a signed and notarized parental consent form
    signed by a parent of legal guardian. TSMA office and race track office shall have a document in
    possession before participation of individual will be allowed to participate. Track insurance regulations holds precedence in regards to minimum competition age. TSMA may require participants to undergo physical examination before an individual is allowed to compete in TSMA sanctioned events. ALL drivers must have a completed TSMA application and be in good standing with the TSMA in order to compete. Any participant not having an annual competition license MUST obtain a temporary license in order to compete in any TSMA event. Temporary license is good for one race event only.

TIRES

  • Grooving or sipping of tires are allowed.

  • Any 8 inch Amerian Racer, Hoosier or Goodyear compound.

  • Any legal UMP or AMRA 8 inch tire.

WHEELS/SPACERS

  • Eight (8) inch steel wheels only

  • Mud plugs are allowed in all 4 wheels

 


SAFETY EQUIPMENT

  • Helmets are required and must meet minimum standard rating of Snell SA2005 or SA2000. If sticker
    is not present TSMA will assume the hamlet does not meet the required standards and will not be
    permitted. Helmet must accompany vehicle during time of inspection.

  • Fire extinguishers are required

  • Competitors at all times must wear SFI approved full fire suits of a flame retardant nature. Fire suit
    must be in good operable condition. Two piece fire suits are permitted. Fire retardant gloves, shoes
    and neck braces are EXTREMELY recommended.

  • Competition type seat belts are mandatory. Belts must be at least 3 inches in width. Lap belts,
    shoulder belts, and submarine belts are mandatory. No factory type seat belts. All belts must be dated no more than three years old. If not dated, TSMA will assume the date has expired and will not be permitted. The ONLY recognized date will be the manufactured date as stamped on the seat belt manufacturers tag
    Sales receipt will not be accepted. Example If car inspected in April 2009, seat belts cane be dated no earlier than April 2006. Driver will be given one warning to replace seat belts before the next race. Second warning the belts must be replaced before the car will be permitted to race in any further competition activities. 

  • Window nets are suggested

ROLL CAGES

  • Must consist of a continuous hoop not less than 1.5 inches outside diameter, and must have a wall thickness of at least .095 inches.

  • Frame must be mounted in at least six (6) places.

  • Must consist of a configuration of front and rear hoops connected by a tubing on the sides or side hoops. Drivers head must not protrude above cage with helmet on and driver strapped into seat. Roll cages must be securely supported and braced.

  • Low carbon, mild steel D.O.M tubing is recommended. Bracing or soldering is not allowed.

  • Protection of feet is mandatory. Bar across back of engine with vertical bars and rub rails, or similar protection.

  • No brace bars forward of cage may be higher than stock hood height.

  • Chassis must have drive shaft loop.

  • Drivers doors must be as parallel with the ground as possible and located perpendicular to the driver so as to provide maximum protection for drivers, but without causing undue
    difficulty in getting into or out of vehicle. Door bars must be .095 inch thick: must have a minimum of three (3) bars at least 1 1/2 inch in diameter. Driver door bars must be placed on the outside,
    with a minimum 1/8 inch steel or aluminum. Plate must cover the area from the top door bar to the bottom door bar and from the rear down post to the front down post.
    Steel is to be welded: aluminum is to be bolted with a minimum of 3/8 inch diameter bolts. Plate must be visible for inspection.

  • The door bars must be welded to the front and rear of the roll cage

  • No bracing or soldering allowed on any chassis/frame components.

  • Floor pans with a minimum of 20 gauge steel: or minimum of 1/8 inch thick aluminum plate may be used.
     

    FRAMES

  • Factory production complete, full, 1950 or newer American passenger car frames only allowed. Frames maybe cut in the rear only at a point no further than 36", both sides, from center of rear end housing. No front clips or tube type permitted.

  • Frames may not be widened or narrowed and must be able to support the roll cage on both sides. Frame must be full and complete on both sides. Front cross member may be
    notched for radiator clearance only. Minimum frame height, and body height, must be four(4) inches from ground.

  • No Bronco, Jeep ect. or 4 wheel drive frames permitted. No sport car frames or no front wheel drive frames permitted.

  • Maximum overall tread width, front or rear, shall not exceed 78": measured from the outside of tread to outside of thread.

  • Minimum wheelbase is 108", both sides. NO TOLERANCE.
     

    SUSPENSION/STEERING

    • Front suspension and steering must be OEM and be in stock location and must be replaced by stock part from same type of suspension. Stock passenger car spindles only. No fabricated spindles. Aftermarket tube type lower control arms may be used. Lower control arms cannot be altered or moved, (exceptions:( may weld shock mount on lower control arm.) May use steel bushings in lower control arms.

    • No center steering. In cockpit steering may be modified to drivers taste but must remain on the left side of car.

    • Tube type upper control arms are allowed and can be moved. Cross bar for upper control arm may be aluminum.

    • No rack and pinion steering. Steering box must be OEM. Steering box must remain on the left side of car.

    • OEM tie rod ends and adjustment sleeve may be replaced by a minimum .625 inch (5/8") rod end ( hemi joint) and steel or aluminum tube.

    • No hydraulic, ratcheted, or electric weight jacking devises allowed anywhere in or on the car.

    • Rear frame may be altered to accept leaf or coil springs. Any coil spring on car must be at least 4 1/2 inches outside diameter. Coil springs must be steel. Leaf springs may be steel or composite type. Lowering blocks rear springs shackles and rear end drive bars may be steel or aluminum only. No torsion bars permitted in rear.

    • One shock per wheel only. Additional shocks in other locations permissible. Aluminum shocks are permitted. No remote reservoir shocks permitted.

    • Coil over springs/shock units (or combination thereof) allowed on rear suspension only ( this includes "lift bar). No coil over spring shock units allowed on front suspension.

    • Dummy shock allowed. No aluminum, fiberglass, or composite suspension, steering or rear end parts permitted, expect where noted in these rules. No aluminum hubs allowed. Front hub and rotor assembly must be one piece steel OEM.

    • No cover on springs, shocks, etc.. permitted. With the exception of a small bellows type shaft cover for a coil over eliminator and/or pull/ push bar assembly, for maintenance purposes only shaft covers subject to TSMA officials approval, and are subject to removal.

    • No late model springs allowed.

    REAR ENDS

    • Any passenger car type or truck type rear end may be used.

    •  Steel-tube quick change rear ends are allowed. Steel axles tubes ONLY. No wide five hubs. Quick change are optional, not mandatory.

      BRAKES

    • Must have a working caliper and rotor on each wheel and must lock up all four wheel. Steel OEM brake calipers only. Steel vented brake rotors may be re-drilled for different bolt patterns and/or larger studs.

    DRIVE SHAFT

    • Drive shaft must be steel and must be painted white.

    • Drive shaft loop is required. It must be constructed of 1/4" x 2" steel. Tubular loop may be used, must be made of a minimum 1" diameter tubing. Loops must be mounted no less than two inches and no more than six inches from the rear of the front universal joint of the drive shaft.

    KILL SWITCH/BATTERY

    • A kill switch is required. Switch must be clearly marked and located within easy reach of the driver, and safety crews must be bale to reach switch from standing outside the car.

    • All cars must have a battery. Battery must be securely mounted. Battery cannot be mounted inside drivers compartment.

      TRANSMISSION/BELL HOUSING/CLUTCH
    • 3 speed, 4 speed manual, and automatic types are permitted. No IN or OUT boxes. With motor running and car in a still position, driver must be able to
      engage car and move forward, then stop and engage car and move backwards. No type of quick change transmission permissions.

    • OEM type transmission with stock type single disc in bell housing, must be equipped with an explosion proof steel bell housing. If an explosion proof type
      bell housing is not accessible for your engine or if you prefer, you can create a shield of at least 1/2 X 6" steel covering the clutch area 180 degrees and be firmly fastened.

    • Transmissions must have at least one forward gear and one reverse gear, plus a neutral position, and must be able to be shifted by the driver. All race cars must join the lineup on demand, unaided or go to the rear of the race.

    ENGINES

    • Any American make may be used

    • Engine offset must be kept within two inches of the center line of the front cross members.

    • Rear of engines, bell housing mounting flange surface, must be mounted at least 72 inches forward from the center line of rear axles

    • Minimum engine height is eleven inches from the ground to the front of center of the crankshaft.

    • All engines used in competition must be able to used in a conventional passenger car without alterations

    • No machine work may be done on the outside of engine, or front or rear of camshaft

    • Engine "cast-in" motor mount locations can not be removed or altered. Casting and fitting must not be altered.

    • No dry sump systems allowed. "Wet" sump system in engine must be operative.

    • Engine cooling system may be modified.

    • Exhaust system must be mounted in such a way as to direct spent gases away from cockpit of vehicle, and away from areas of possible fuel spillage.

    • Engine block must be steel.

    • Mufflers are recommended and may be required at some tracks.

    • All vehicles must have the capability of starting without being pushed or pulled.

    • Battery type ignitions only. No magnetos allowed. Maximum on one ignition system and/or multiple spark discharge box allowed. An ignition system includes, but is not limited to multiple spark discharge box, coil, battery etc..

    • NO ALUMINUM MOTORS

    ASPIRATION/FUEL SYSTEM

    • One two barrel or one four barrel carburetor only.

    • Two carburetor throttle return springs required.

    • No electric fuel pump or fuel systems of any type

    • Engine must be normally aspirated; no type of fuel injection allowed.

    • Fuel may be gasoline or alcohol. No nitrous oxide. No additives of any kind

    • Racing fuel cells are required and must be mounted by at least two steel straps, no less than two inches wide X 1/8 inch thick, all the way around the cell. The use of 1" X 1" X .065 wall square bars around the top, bottom and sides of the fuel cell. All fuel cells must be mounted securely to the frame. Fuel cells must be enclosed completely in a steel container, mounted behind rear axle only, and must also be protected in rear by roll cage tubing mounted securely to the frame.

    • No part of fuel cell should be lower than the protective tubing. Protective tubing should be no wider than six inches on both sides of fuel cells. Fuel cells must have a check valves and bladders are highly recommended. Fuel cells are limited to 32 gallon maximum capacity.

    TRACTION CONTROL

    • Use of any type of "traction control" will not be allowed.

    BUMPER/NEFF BARS

    • Bumpers must be used on both front and rear of car. Bumpers and nerf bars must be steel.

    • Front bumpers must be mounted to both frame horns. Front bumper must be made of a minimum 1 1/4"; maximum 1 1/2" round or square tubing. Front bumper is required to have two loops, one upper and one lower.

    • Front bumper may be no wider than the frame horns, with two inch tolerance only, to accommodate bumper mounting bracket per side.

    • Front bumper must be outside of body and not covered in any way.

    • Rear bumper side nerf bars and bodies may not extend beyond the width of the rear tires and must not contain any sharp edges. There shall be no rough edges on any bar or bumper on the car.

    • No straight rear bumper allowed. The ends of the rear bumper must be bent to form a 180 degree bend or be bent forward in a 90 degree bend.

    • Rear bumpers must mount to rear on chassis. Rear bumpers may be constructed of round or square tubing and must protect fuel cell. ( NOTE that the bars which are known as "fuel cell" protectors are not considered part of the rear bumper. They however require as fuel cell protectors.)

    • Both front and rear bumper shall be eighteen inches plus or minus two inches from the ground. This measurement is the "center" of the bumper. This means if your bumper is constructed with its two bars, upper and lower, twelve inches apart, then the center or your bumper is six inches from either the top or bottom. This is where the measurement is taken at the "center" not the top or bottom.

    • Bumpers must be flat across. Bumpers may not be made in any type pointed configuration. A bumper which is badly damaged may be required to be repaired or replaced before a car is allowed to compete.

    • Bumpers must be used on both front and rear of car. Bumpers and nerf bars must be steel.
    • Front bumpers must be mounted to both frame horns. Front bumper must be made of a minimum 1 1/4"; maximum 1 1/2" round or square tubing.

    BODIES

    • Hood are required to have four hood pins.

    • Any type of " inner fender wells: will be allowed on car.

    • Any type of sheet metal, or material, which could be constructed by officials to be affecting the flow of air in through, or around the car, other than noted elsewhere
      in these rules will not be allowed.

    • No type of radio communications allowed.

    • No mirrors allowed.

    • All cars must have a top

    • Gremlin type tops may be used, not conjunction with a rear spoiler. Spoilers may be used with conventional style tops. The determination of whether a car has a rear
      flip will be the decision of the TSMA official at that event.

    • Rear spoilers are recommended to be made of transparent material.

    • Rear roof height cannot exceed front roof height by more than two inches ( NO TOLERANCE). No odd shaped roofs allowed.

    • The car interior must be level with the top of the door from side to side.

    • The rear body panel is optional. If it is used it must meet all other specifications, including size and installations.

    • Debris deflector in front of driver is allowed but may not extend any farther back than the steering wheel.

    • The use of drapes and/or covers at any time are not allowed.

    • Five inch spoilers are legal. Sail panels that are intended to be part of the side spoiler can be used.

    CAR NUMBER

    • Car number must appear on both sides of car, on door, or quarter panel. Each number must be a minimum of 18 inches tall and nine inches wide. Each number must be on top of car a minimum of 24 inches tall by nine inches wide.

    • Number must be also be on nose and fuel cell or car and be a minimum of 6 inches tall. Numbers must be a contrasting color to the car.

    WEIGHTS/CAR WEIGHT

    • Loose weights must not be used in driver's compartment, or outside the body or hood areas.

    • Any added weights must be securely mounted to the frame or roll car with at least 2 1/2 "bolts, nuts and washers. Weights must be painted white and have the car number on it.

    • Car must weigh 2,400 pounds with driver after every race. Car must make weight at inspection to receive inspection points. Scales being used will be the FINAL determination of weight for car and driver.

    WEIGH- IN PROCEDURES

    • The scales that are used at any event will be considered the events officials scales. The reading of these scales will be used as the official weight of the car for the event. ( It is recommended that all participants check the weight of their car to assure that the car weighs 2,400 pounds according to the scales being used. Remember, the reading of the scales being used if the official weight of the car.

    • Minimum weight of 2,400 pounds must be maintained. Weight includes driver after the race.

    • Driver of the car must be the one who weighs the car. Officials will verify drivers identity. Should driver that drove the car in the race not bring the car to the scales, then the car will be disqualified from that race.

    • CARS MUST GO DIRECTLY TO THE SCALES AFTER RACE AN GET INLINE TO WEIGH. DO NOT GO TO YOUR PIT THEN BACK TO THE SCALES.
      DO NOT STOP AT ANY OTHER PIT AND THEN TO THE SCALES. GO DIRECTLY TO THE SCALES

    • Cars which are disqualified from the feature for weight violations of any kind will forfeit their points for that race, and prize money for that race. Should car not make required weight then that car will be disqualified from that race and all cars finishing behind that car will be move up one position.

    250 Speedway

        2009-Super Sport Rules

       It is the responsibility of all drivers, car owners, & Crew members to know the rules. All racers are subject

    to be inspected by the 250 Speedway Technical Inspectors at any time during the racing events.

    Minimum age requirement is 15 years of age.

                CARS: Any American made cars, no sports cars, convertibles or 2 seat coupes.

                WHEEL BASE: Must have an OEM wheel base.         

                BODY: Must run stock appearing body. The hood, trunk, and roof can be fiberglass or aluminum. Cutting on body for tire clearance will be allowed and you may remove inner fenders. Body must match engine manufacturer: Ford–to-Ford, GM-to-GM permitted.

                RUB RAILS: Rub rails no bigger than 1” x 2” may be attached to body from fender well to fender well.

                DOORS: All doors must be welded shut.

                BUMPERS: The area between the trunk lid and rear bumper must be closed off with solid metal or aluminum. Bumpers must be fastened to fenders or quarter panels (tied in).

                APPEARANCE: Car must be neat in appearance, body damage must be repaired, and hood and trunk must be removable for inspection.

                INTERIOR: Interior must be completely gutted. All window openings must remain open.

                FLOOR: Must have steel floor pan from fire wall to the rear of the driver’s seat. May have aluminum from the back of the drivers seat to/and including the firewall as long as the aluminum is the same thickness as the steal in the front floor plan.

                SEAT: A properly mounted racing seat must be used. Driver’s seat may be no further back than the original quarter post.

                SHEET METAL-(Interior): The only sheet metal allowed in the driver’s area is straight up to an angle from the bottom of the driver’s seat to the bottom of the passenger window and from the back of the seat to the rear window area.

                ROLL CAGE: Must have four post design roll cage using 1-1/2 by .095 wall minimum tubing must be used. The cage must be welded to the frame of the car, extended at least 2” (inches) above drivers head and include three bars on the driver’s side. 2 bars on the right side, a bar connecting the front post immediately above or below the steering column, and the rear supports from the back top of the cage to the rear frame of the cage behind the rear axle. All bars near the driver must be covered with padding.

                BELTS: A five point safety harness belt must be fastened to the cage or frame. BATTERY: If the battery is mounted in the driver’s compartment, it must be securely mounted and covered in a manner that will not allow it to leak or dislodge in an accident.

                DRIVE SHAFT & LOOP: A drive shaft loop is required and must be at least ¼” and 2” steel or ¼ chain and should be mounted no more than 6” (inches) back from front of drive shaft. Drive shaft must be painted white.

                FUEL CELL & LINES: Approved fuel cell is required. It must be fastened in the trunk of the car to the frame or cage. If fuel lines are run through inside of car, it must be inside conduit.

               TOW HOOKS: Must have tow hooks in front and back of car. They must be easily accessible by tow truck operator.

                WINDOWS: Must have 3 bars minimum in front window area in front of driver’s head, screen optional but driver’s side window net is mandatory. NO GLASS.

                CHASSIS/FRAME: (NO LATE MODEL CHASIS). Must be a stock full frame to the center of the rear axle. Weight jacks are optional.

                UNI-BODY: Uni body may be used but must be tied together with 2” x 2” minimum tubing. Tubing is allowed around motor for safety and body mounting purposes. From the center of the rear axle to the back of the car tubing may be used.

                REPAIRS: May use tubing for reinforcement and repair of original frame. If a section of the stock frame is cut out, it must be replaces with a stock piece of frame.

               STEERING & SUSPENSION: Steering must be factory O.E.M. No rack and pinion steering. Quick release hub and steering quickener is optional.

                FRONT: Front suspension must be unaltered O.E.M and in stock location and must be replaceable by stock parts from same type suspension. Stock passenger car spindles only, no fabrication spindles. Bottom A-Frames can not be changed or moved. Shocks do not have to be in stock locations, only 1 shock per wheel. Stabilizer bar is O.K.

                REAR: Rear suspension must be stock O.E.M. Stabilizer bar is O.K. No added lift arms or push-bars are aloud. No upper torque links or pan-hard bars allowed. 6” (inch) coil springs or leaf springs only, NO coil covers. No late model, pro-stock, semi late, or limited late style frames will be allowed.

                REAR-END:  Any O.E.M car or truck rear end, no quick-change devices. Floaters are optional, but are strongly recommended. No aluminum after market rear ends allowed.

               TRANSMISSION: No racing transmissions-Brinn, Bert, T.C.I. Any clutch key is o.k. When the clutch pedal is pushed in the car must not move. When the clutch is left out the car must move.

                BRAKES: Must have 4 wheel brakes and lock up during inspection. Stock type disc brakes may be used but no aluminum or racing style calipers or rotors may be used. No cross-drilled front rotors.

               TIRES & WHEELS: 8-inch racing tires are permitted. 8-inch steel wheels only and all wheels must have 9/16” or better wheel studs. Must run oversized lug nuts. No snow tires allowed. No wide 5 wheels allowed. A bead lock wheel is allowed on all for wheels.

                ENGINE: No cubic inch limit on engine. The engine must have a working starter and a stock type ignition. No radiator hoop is permitted, but the radiator must be in the stock location.

                ALIGNMENT:  The engine must be in stock location. No.1 spark plug must line up with the centerline of the top ball joint.

                BLOCK & HEADS: Block and heads must be cast iron.

                INTAKE: Low-rise aluminum intake permitted. No adapters, space plates, etc. with a combined thickness of more than 1-1/4” permitted. Maximum height of intake is 6 (inches), measured from bottom of carburetor to top of end rail on block. No fluid Dampers.

                CARBURATORS: Must use an unaltered Holly 4412-2- barrel carburetor. The only work allowed on carburetor is removal of the chock plate. Carburetors will be checked with tech tools. No 4 barrels allowed. No electric fuel pumps allowed.

                FUEL: Gasoline fuel only. No alcohol or other fuels allowed.

                HEADERS: Headers are allowed.

                CONDITION & APPEARANCE: All cars must be in good operational condition, presentable in appearance and in general safe condition. All racecars are subject to judgment of the inspection officials. No wings or tunnels of any type permitted under the car.

                NUMBER APPEARANCE:  Car numbers must be a minimum of 18” high on the car doors and roof. Do not use reflective colors. Do not spray paint numbers on. Drivers are responsible for making sure that the numbers are legible for scorekeeping.

                DRIVER SAFETY: All drivers must wear an approved fire suit that is in good condition, an approved full face helmet, and approved racing gloves. A fully charged and easily accessible fire extinguisher is required.

                WEIGHT RULE: Car must weigh 3,200 lbs, including driver.

                ELECTRONICS: No radios or other communication devices are permitted. No “in cock-pit driver controlled” electronic devices of any kind permitted. No computer controlled devices of any kind permitted.

                PASSENGERS: No one shall be allowed to ride on or in the car as a passenger on the track at any time.

                NOTE- Any car which is determined to be unsafe for any reason, by Track Officials, will not be allowed to participate in any event at any event at 250 Speedway until modifications are made.

                CARBURATER RULE: For super stock car division only: The carburetor can be claimed in the Super Stock class for $300.00. You must claim the carburetor at the pit office prior to the feature start. Payment of $300.00 in cash only must be paid at time of claim. Claim will be announced after the feature.  The driver accompanied by the pit technician will remove and deliver the carburetor to the pit office before the driver picks up his winnings for the night.

               The driver claiming the carburetor can pick up his carburetor from track personal at the end of the evening. If the person refuses to sell his carburetor that race night, he will forfeit his points and purse for the night. There will also be a $200.00 fine paid to 250 Speedway. Once you have made a claim on a carburetor, you will loose your $300.00 if you change your mind. There will only be one claim per race night. If more than one person wants to claim a carburetor, there will be a pill draw to determine who can claim a carburetor that night. The lowest number will be allowed to claim the carburetor.  Only

               Super Stock drivers racing in the feature that night can claim a carburetor that night.

In the event of any on track dispute, the Head Flagman’s decision will be final. Decisions of 250 Speedway officials and promoters pertaining to the interpretation of rules that affect race procedures, and scoring of positions shall be final.

    2009 - Pure Stock Rules

    This is a Novice class

     

    1. The pure Stock class is a low cost division that is designed to enable anyone to compete. It is for stock automobiles only. Former race cars are not permitted. Rules are established to keep the cost of the cars down and affordable while making the vehicles as safe as possible. These rules are a frame work for the division, therefore they are basic. New rules may be added as needed.

     All drivers must be at least 14 years of age. All drivers under the age of 18 must have      a signed release waiver form filled out each night before you compete and must be signed by a parent or guardian as well as the minor participant. Minor release forms can be obtained at the sign in booth located in the pits. 

       2. BODY: This class is open to any American made car from 1970-1990. Car must be neat in appearance and paint scheme must be appealing. Primer cars or bad paint scheme combinations will not be permitted. This is up to the technical committee’s discretion. No, Jeeps, Trucks, Station Wagons, Sports cars, and or Police cars are permitted.

       Must have an O.E.M wheel base.  

     3. FRAME: Must be stock. Full frame cars are permitted. Uni-body may be used but must be tied together with 2”X 2” minimum tubing. No metal panels may be cut out, except the specification for the trunk floor. Doors should be gutted. Cars must have a full floor and trunk; however, the trunk must have a safety modification done around the fuel bladder and container. Cars must have all holes filled in the firewall. Front wheel housing must be removed. Doors must be welded shut.

    4. INTERIOR: The car must be completely gutted of all upholstery, including the back     seat. Metal racing seat is required. No plastic seats or original seat(s). The seat must be fully mounted (fastened) to the roll cage. No bench style seats are permitted.

    5. HOOD & TRUNK: Can not be altered in any manner from its original design. They must each contain the original style full metal panels. No vents or scoops. Both     the hood and trunk must be able to be opened easily. Latches may be removed and hood pins installed.

      6. BUMPERS: Can not be reinforced in any manner or have anything added to them. They must be the same make as the car. Each car must have a tow hook on the front and rear of the car. Bumper ends must be rolled. No straight, sharp, edges. No after market bumpers are permitted. Plastic tail and nose pieces are allowed.

       7. SHOCKS: No extra shocks. Shocks must remain stock and in their stock location.    No air shocks.

       8. LIGHTS: Lenses must be removed and the holes filled.

       9. CHROME: All chrome trim and/or accent pieces must be removed.

      10. WINDSHIELDS: All glass must be removed. Cars must have three (3) vertical bars    that protect the driver from a tire entering the front window opening.

      11. ROLLBARS: Must be a minimum of six (6) points with a minimum of four (4) bars   per door. Door bars must arch outward to door skin. 3” wide racing seat belts must be attached to the roll cage (high & low) with two (2) bars from the top of the cage to the center of the rear end area attached to the frame. The four (4) down post of the main cage must be welded to the frame rails. FRONT AND REAR HOOP PERMITTED. It is highly recommended that you use a minimum of 1 ¾” O.D. seamless pipe with a minimum wall thickness of .095. All intersections of the pipe joints should be welded completely around and gusseted. The driver area must be padded and have a head rest. Roll cage must extend above the drivers head. Driver’s side door must have a 1/8” thick steal plate welded to the bars from the top bar down to the frame.

       12. SUSPENSION: MUST BE STOCK. CAR MUST BE LEVEL FRONT TO REAR AND SIDE TO SIDE. Springs can not be chained or clamped down. Springs can not be left out. No lowering or lifting blocks or adjustable parts. Leaf spring must have the same number of leafs on both sides. No heavy duty suspension parts. Cambering of the right front wheel permitted. Springs should be stock appearing diameter and height. No spacers or adjustable devices.

       13. NUMBER/COLORS: All cars must be neat in appearance. For participants’ safety, no black or dark colored cars are permitted. Cars must have legible numbers at least 18” high and 3” wide with no more that 2 digits. Any team cars must be painted in contrasting style or colors so that each car is easily distinguishable one from the other. If a problem exists, then the owner will be required to change the scheme at the request of the officials. If the paint scheme (body, color, number or legibility) on any car is too hard to clearly read, then the scheme must be revised and approved upon inspection.

      All cars must have a 4”x4” number plate in clearly visible painted colors located in the   upper right hand corner of the windshield area for restart purposes. All cars will comply with this rule.

      14. SAFETY: Must have standard safety equipment. Should include but not be limited to approved helmet, window net, seat belts, shoulder harness, fire suit and gloves. Fire extinguisher is needed on board and securely mounted.

      15. TIRE & WHEELS: 8” steel racing wheels. Can be 8” inch street tires to modified   tires, to late model tires.

      16. ENGINES/RADIATORS: Must remain stock without any modifications and in stock location. The maximum permissible sizes are 265, 283, 302, 305, 307, and 318 cubic inches. One (1) stock, Two (2) barrel carburetor. No duel pumpers or predator style permitted. Also, no fuel injection systems. If needed, a low claim rule for complete car may be established for the division at any time.

      17. HEADERS: Headers are permitted. Exhaust pipe(s) may not exit thru the   fenders and must extend behind the driver. Emission equipment may be removed.

       18. DRIVE LINE: Rear ends must be stock and in stock location. Ford 9” is permitted. Cars must have a 360 safety strap at front of driveshaft. Locked rear ends are required. Safety axels highly recommended.

       19. GENERATORS: All cars must have a working generator or alternator. They must   be hooked up at all times. Battery must be securely mounted under the hood.

       20. FUEL: Gasoline only. No additives permitted. Be prepared to provide samples for testing. Illegal fuel will result in loss of points for the year and all monies won that night.

       21. RACING FUEL BLADDER & CONTAINER: You must have a fuel bladder in a metal container with (4) metal safety straps a minimum of 1/8”x1” wide and it must be mounted inside the trunk area. The trunk floor must be cut out to accommodate the fuel bladder and container plus allowing a 4” wide margin around the entire fuel bladder and container. This will accomplish two safety goals of permitting the fuel to escape the car in the event of an accident as well as providing a 4” buffer (cushion) around the entire fuel bladder and container in case of a severe rear end collision. The fuel bladder and container mounting brackets must be tied into the main frame with either substantial angle iron or square tubing. The car must have a complete steel firewall between the driver and fuel bladder container. The maximum size permitted is (12) gallons.

       22. MISCELLANEOUS: No radios or mirrors.

       23. Any car not passing post-race inspection shall forfeit all prize(s).

    250 SPEEDWAY

    2009 - 4 CYL. RULES

    1. Car - Any American or foreign made non turbo compact passenger car, front or rear wheel drive. No trucks.  

    2. 2 or 4 door cars allowed. Doors must be welded or bolted shut.

    3. You must remove all flammable materials, except the dashboard.

    4. A racing seat is highly recommended.

    5. You must have racing harness. Neck and arm restraints are highly recommended.

    6. Car must be completely stock.

    7. You must remove all glass, molding, plastics & chrome trim.

    8. You must have 4 point roll bar welded to plates. All roll cage and other bars mentioned in these rules shall be 1-3/4” in diameter x 0.095 thick tubing minimum. Tow hook or chain in front and rear.

    9. You must have at least 2 door bars on drivers' side and 1 on passenger side.

    10. You must have 3 window bars in front on the driver's side or a windshield.

    11. Roll bar must be padded in drivers' area.

    12. Cars must be painted & lettered neatly. 18" number minimum. Must have numbers on both doors and on the roof.

    13. Approved racing helmet is required.

    14. A fire retardant suit and gloves are required.

    15. A fire extinguisher is required in the car, properly secured.

    16. 8” Racing tires are permitted. No snow tires. 

    17. Bead lock wheels are permitted.

    18. All drivers must be 14 years of age or older.

    19. Parents are responsible for any driver under the age of 18.
