Guest #2 is the driver of the #1KC

Kacy Campbell

Kacy competes in the TSMA Modified division at 250 Speedway and makes his home in St. Clairsville, OH. Kacy would like to thank his sponsors for the 2010 season: A-1 Service Center and Mattern Tire of Cadiz. He also would like to thank his family, his wife and her family, his crew that works on the #1KC machine, Scotty Peltz and the Peltz family – without them, racing would not be possible.

Kacy and I talked about the ups and downs of racing and how we have both been involved in the sport our whole lives. Kacy told me that he and his wife sat down and looked for something else to do in the off season “we looked at everything”, he said. “Boating, show cars, things like that, but I don’t know what else to do, this is all I know”. He also pointed out that he is selling t-shirts and has all sizes, if you would like to purchase one, please stop by and see him or a member of his family at the race track. Of course, he hit me up for a youth large for my daughter, who is a Kacy fan. We talked about the safety of the sport and the safety equipment we have now, compared to what drivers had back in the day. I asked him about getting upside down last week and how it feels from the cockpit of one of these racers “It’s not too bad really, the belts and seat hold you in pretty good. Other than fire, I think these cars can take just about anything and I think you’ll be ok”, he explained. I also asked him to tell me and the fans something that not everyone knows about Kacy Campbell? His response, “well, Mitch’s answer last week is a tough one to beat” with a big smile and laugh from the crowd when he said “my answer is, I’m broke”. If you would like to sponsor one of these beautiful race cars, here is a team that could use the help to continue a lifelong passion.  Look for the #1KC to be battling up front when he is able to get back on the speedway.

Kacy is a very determined person who has been around racing his whole life and enjoys every minute. Through all the peaks and valleys that you have to endure being involved in this sport, I know that Kacy is even more appreciative of the highs because he has weathered the lows. 250 Speedway is proud that Kacy represents us wherever he goes! Good luck and God Speed in 2010!!

Guest #1 is the driver of the #B55

Mitch Basich

Mitch is the 2009 TSMA Modified Points Champion at 250 Speedway and makes his home in Adena, OH. Mitch is very appreciative of all his sponsors: Bahama Mamas, Oak Hills Automotive, QuickTime Performance Parts and Figgy’s Fuel Mart. He also thanked his Fiancé’, his family and his crew that works on the #B55 machine – without them, racing would not be possible.

When I asked Mitch what it felt like to be the reigning Champ in the TSMA Modified Division at 250 Speedway, he told me that he never would have thought back in the late 70’s, early 80’s that he would have been able to get back in a race car, let alone win a Championship. I also asked him to tell me and the fans something that not everyone knows about Mitch Basich? His answer, “I’m straight!” in typical Mitch fashion. I think we all got a good laugh out of that one. My final question to him before I let him get back to the pit area and get strapped in for the first feature of the year was what will be the key to winning back to back Championships?  “Consistency, consistency, consistency” he said with a grin, “finishing races”.  Look for the #B55 to be right in the thick of the Championship fight as Mitch and the boys will look to go back to back in 2010.

Mitch Basich is a hard worker, a tough nosed race car driver, a respected competitor and a humbled Champion. 250 Speedway is proud that Mitch represents us as our TSMA Modified Division Champion! Good luck and God Speed in 2010!!

Stay tuned next week as guest #2 will visit “Hot Rod’s Korner”.
